Sugar Glider Sugar Bear Cages 5

What kind of cage you wish for your sugar glider sugar bear should be influenced by its age.

Special wire mesh coated with PVC is generally ideal for younger sugar glider sugar bears. The holes allow your sugar glider sugar bear to grasp the bars horizontally or vertically. Long vertical bars can hurt the tender feet of your sugar glider sugar bears, so should be avoided. When your sugar glider sugar bear is in its bonding phase i.e. during its 8-12 weeks out of the pouch, it is important that you keep them in a smaller starter cage. This is because smaller cages enable your sugar glider sugar bear to play and jump around without fearing a fall, which is essential for a sugar glider sugar bear because they instinctually fear falling and when they are unable to hold on to something they become very inactive. Such starter cages are designed to quicken the bonding process with your sugar glider sugar bear. Also, you and even young kids can easily pick up your pet from its cage without having to chase it around and stressing it out.

When your sugar glider sugar bear grows up to about 4-6 months, you can get for your pet a larger aviary styled bird cage. The cage must have a spacing of less than half an inch and also a safety latch on each door to ensure that your pet sugar glider sugar bear never escapes. Always avoid cheaper cages as they can lead to many problems including the death of your sugar glider sugar bear from lead poisoning after the coating has come off from the lead bars. A good quality cage like Jung-L-Gym™ cage from Pocket Pets has a strong epoxy coating which can last a lifetime and is fully safe.

Your sugar glider sugar bear will comfortable with a heat rock inside the cage, since the room temperature is generally less than their optimal temperatures of 75-80 degrees. Heat rocks are safe to use. It is not good for your sugar glider sugar bear to experience extreme temperature variations between day and night and therefore you should not keep the cage in direct sunlight or next to a window. Even common household chemicals can be very harmful to your pet, so avoid the kitchen for the placement of the cage.

These pets seldom make a noise except with toys, so remove noisy toys at night. Also, cheap exercise wheels can cause lots of noise, so buy a good quality one.
