Sugar Glider Sugar Bear Nutrition 3

There are lots of wrong stuff in the internet about sugar glider sugar bears, and there is a lot of promotion of homemade diets and concoctions for sugar glider sugar bears, like HPW, BML, Leadbeater’s and a wide variety of hybrids. Most problems Vets encounter with sugar glider sugar bears are due to an improper diet, inspired of these internet sources. Though these may look fine in theory, in practice they are extremely complicated and time consuming to prepare, with ingredients that are not readily available and which are costly, so that owners unwittingly omit a few ingredients to make their lives simpler, which results in malnutrition of their pets. Instead, the knowledge about sugar glider sugar bear nutrition has been effectively packaged into commercial pellet food for these animals. This is not only healthy and nutritious, but is also far cheaper and easier to feed.

The best pellet foods are “Glide-R-Chow™” by Vet’s Pride and “NutriMax™” by Pocket Pets organization. Both of these cost about $5 a month per sugar glider sugar bear, which is damn cheap and covers the core nutritional requirement of 75% of the sugar glider sugar bear’s dietary requirements. The rest 25% should come from fresh fruits and vegetables the size of 1/8th of an apple slice or equivalent in other foods.

Then there should be a calcium based multivitamin, which is required because sugar glider sugar bears need a very specific ratio of calcium, phosphorous and Vitamin D3, the lack of which can cause serious health problems or even death. Ideally, the multivitamin should complement the pellet food that you give your pet, as is available in the market.

Remember that sugar glider sugar bears would love sweet foods and insects but these invariably cause problems in excess. Make sure there are 2 ounces of pellet food in the cage during all times, and that you remove the crumbs each day. Without slicing the fruits, leave them overnight in the cage and every other night, just sprinkle the multivitamin in these fruits.

You will require a dining area because sugar glider sugar bears play around in their cage and will waste most of the food around. For this, you will require a plastic box at least 4 inches high with a hole at either end.
