Sugar Glider Sugar Bear Handling 4

When you get your pet sugar glider sugar bear, put him in a bonding pouch and roll it up while you grasp firmly with your hands. Remember that sugar glider sugar bears are marsupials that are brought up on their mother’s pouch, so the better you are able to simulate that environment, the more comfortable your pet is going to be with you. You might hear a crying sound initially, which means you should hold on more tightly, so they feel completely secure. After a few days of this, you will see your pet fall asleep in your palms, which is the first positive indication of bonding, as it shows that your pet now trusts you.

You can now massage their body with your thumb while using your index finger to put on top of its head, which is used to pick up your pet and make it move around a bit. To make your sugar glider sugar bear move around, you should first cup your other hand in the form a tunnel, and then slowly remove your index finger while gently releasing the pressure on the body of your sugar glider sugar bear. This will facilitate motion of your pet from one hand to another, which is a great way to bond with your pet. Alternating between massaging and moving should be done for a few times each day.

When they sleep in your hands, you should understand that just like humans, the first thing they like to do after a nap is to poop and pee, so expect to get dirty at least in the initial stages before you potty train your pet. While bonding, it is natural for sugar glider sugar bears to feel threaten and they may try to intimidate you. Make sure that you are not intimidated by your pet and keep a firm but loving control over your pet at all times.
