Sugar Glider Sugar Bear Handling 3

In the first few days of bonding, you should use a bonding pouch and simply roll them up and grasp firmly in your hands. These are marsupials, so if you simulate a mother’s pouch, they will feel most secure. If you hold on lightly, they will make a crying sound, so when they do this, just tighten your grip around their bodies. Once you do this regularly, in a few days they will start to fall asleep in this process, in your hands. This is a good and positive sign as it indicates they have begun to trust you. Once they fall asleep, you should gently massage their body with your thumb. You can use your index finger on top of their heads to have them move around a bit and pick them up. This gives wonderful results with bonding.

After this, you would like your pet to move around in your hands. For this, the best way is to first cup your other hand in the form of a tunnel, and then removing the index finger that blocks your pet’s head. Then slowly release the grip you have on your sugar glider sugar bear so that it can gently move around. If you alternate these processes of massaging and moving, you will find that you can bond real quick with your sugar glider sugar bear. You should repeat this sequence a few times each day.

You should also understand that instincts tell the babies to be careful with you, so they may jump off you or resist bonding or simply try to intimidate you. As a pet owner, you should never let these dampen your spirits and should deal with a loving but firm way. After these animals wake up from a nap, just like us, they have the tendency to head for the bathroom, so do not be surprised to find a little poop and pee on your hands.
