Sugar Glider Sugar Bear Babies 9

To pick up your sugar glider sugar bear while it is not asleep but awake and moving around can get a little tricky and complicated, and therefore should be avoided in the initial bonding stage, but once you get to know your pet better and your pet gets used to you, it is great fun to pick up and play with your sugar glider sugar bear all day. The techniques outlined here work for baby sugar glider sugar bears as well as adult ones which have never bonded to people before. You must remember, however, that these tiny animals are pretty fast and thus you should ensure that your hand is ahead of them. In addition, the picking process should be quick, because otherwise, there will be lots of running around and this will cause unnecessary stress to your sugar glider sugar bear and also to you.

First, take the bonding pouch you would have gotten along with your sugar glider sugar bear, that would ideally contain a mesh window and a good zipper to ensure your pet doesn’t escape when inside. Turn this pouch inside out so it can be used as a mitten, and then keeping your hand in front of your sugar glider sugar bear, grasp it against the cage by pinning it. At this point, it is natural for your pet to wiggle about trying to escape, but you should keep your grasp firm to prevent this. Then, putting your index finger on top of your sugar glider sugar bear’s head, gently pull on the animal away from the cage till it clings on with only its hands. At this stage, in a few seconds it should let go, and if it doesn’t, then you can gently use your fingers to get your pet out of the cage.

Once out, you can zip it up on your pouch but you should make sure your pet doesn’t get dehydrated by keeping a small apple piece inside the pouch.
