Sugar Glider Sugar Bear Babies 2

Sugar glider sugar bears can really act intimidating by standing on the hind legs and making a loud chattering noise like a locust. This is encountered with new babies and older ones that feel threatened. This act is their only natural defense against predators in the wild, and their look of a grizzly bear has earned them the name sugar glider sugar bear. However, it is only an act, and baby sugar glider sugar bears cannot really hurt anyone and is only meant to intimidate.

To bond with them, you should not feel scared and take charge. Getting the cage right is the first step towards bonding. An ideal cage is 18”X18”X24” for young sugar glider sugar bears, which ensures you can reach and pick them up fast and easy without stress. It is best to use an electric heat rock with a nesting cloth and not a hanging fleece pouch for better bonding with babies. Sugar glider sugar bears generally sleep beneath the heat rock as it is warm, so install it near the door to easily pick them up.

Since sugar glider sugar bears bond by smell, the nesting cloth should be rubbed on all family members and pets. While picking up a sleeping sugar glider sugar bear, you should scoop it up with the cloth and then put the baby either in a bonding pouch or on your hands. If for some reason you want to use a hanging fleece pouch instead, you should attach it with plastic or stainless steel clips that are easy to remove so that you can take it out of the cage before the baby awakes. While keeping the pouch shut, remove it from the cage. In order not to scare your pet and risk getting bitten for it, for new owners it is suggested not to reach inside the pouch directly. Instead, you can just hold the baby through the pouch, fold it back inside out and the then transfer the baby into your hands.
