Sugar Glider Sugar Bear Babies 6

In the bonding phase, you will require to pick up sugar glider sugar bears that are awake and running around. The technique to hold them is similar for baby sugar glider sugar bears and adults that haven’t bonded with humans. You should remember that they are really fast, so you will have to keep your hand ahead of your pet. Also, you should try to pick them up as quickly as possible in order to minimize stress. Since this can get tricky, do not try this out in the very initial stages of bonding but only after you get used to each other.

When you would have gotten your pet, you would also have a fleece bonding pouch, preferably with a mesh window and quality zipper to make sure the baby inside doesn’t escape. First turn the pouch inside out to use it as a big mitten. Then, while keeping your hand in front of where it is moving, pin the animal against the cage. In the initial stages they may seem very slippery, so you should press firmly so they don’t wiggle out. Once you got the animal still, keep your index finger above its head and gently pull its body away from the cage till it is only holding on with its hands. A few seconds of pause ensures that it will let loose the bars, otherwise you can release them with your fingers.

After you get your pet out of the cage, you can either move it to your other hand or fold back the pouch and zip it closed. If you intend to carry your sugar glider sugar bear in a pouch, you must put a small apple slice in there so they don’t get dehydrated. During the early stages of bonding, it is always easier to pick up your pet while it is sleeping, but after a few days, you will be able to effectively pick it up even when it is awake.
